Working together to strengthen children’s rights

Every year, new teaching resources on children’s rights are produced, designed to be practical for teachers and schools. The resources are free of charge and available in the three national languages as well as in English. Discover the right content for your age group now and find teaching resources for your lessons.

Cycle I (ages 4-8)

Children’s rights explained simply: Through fun and age-appropriate teaching materials, children learn about their rights. Ideal for teachers in Cycle I (ages 4-8) who wish to teach children’s rights in a way that is easy to understand and relevant to everyday life.

Cycle II (ages 8-12)

Understanding and applying children’s rights: These teaching materials help teachers in Cycle II (ages 8-12) to explore children’s rights in greater depth. They include practical examples and exercises that encourage pupils to think for themselves and have their say.

Cycle III (ages 12-15)

Discussing and contextualising children’s rights: For Cycle III (ages 12-15), these resources offer well-researched content and ideas for lessons. They encourage pupils to form their own opinions, promote participation and stimulate critical thinking.

Partnerships

Combining practice and science

Since 2025, we have been combining our practical experience in non-formal education with academic collaboration with the Universities of Teacher Education in Lucerne and St Gallen.

The materials from 2021 to 2024 were produced in collaboration with Integras and Terre des Hommes Suisse/Schweiz. Practical teaching materials on children’s rights were developed, with a focus on school, special educational and out-of-school contexts. This phase was supported and provided with expert guidance by éducation21.

Until 2020, the International Institute for the Rights of the Child (IDE) also developed teaching materials on children’s rights topics, some of which are also available here.
